Model • Scout • Advocate • Podcast
For more than four decades, Kim Alley has worked across nearly every side of the modeling industry—as an international model, agent, scout, talent developer, mentor, entrepreneur, podcast host, and advocate. Her unique perspective comes from firsthand experience navigating both the extraordinary opportunities and the difficult realities of the fashion and entertainment worlds.
Kim’s career began in Richmond, Virginia, in 1980. While still in high school, she studied Fashion Merchandising and was discovered at the age of seventeen by Ford Models in New York City. After arriving in New York, Kim stayed with legendary agency founder Eileen Ford while building her portfolio and preparing for an international modeling career.
Kim went on to work throughout Europe, Japan, Australia, the Mediterranean, and all of the major modeling markets in the United States, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Miami. Represented during her career by Ford Models, Wilhelmina, and Elite, she appeared in publications including French Vogue, Italian Vogue, British Vogue, American Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and other leading fashion magazines. Her modeling work included campaigns and assignments for internationally recognized brands such as Lancôme, Benetton, Evian, Armani, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Revlon, L’Oréal, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria’s Secret, and many others.
After years in front of the camera, Kim began using her experience to help guide other models. In 1993, she helped establish a modeling and talent agency in Richmond, Virginia, where she developed, advised, and placed aspiring models with agencies in New York and Europe. Among the talent she helped discover was model Amy Lemons, who was placed with IMG Models and went on to appear on the covers of Harper’s Bazaar and British Vogue and in major campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger.
In 1995, Kim returned to New York City to work as an agent at Paris USA Models. Over the following decade, she worked with respected agencies including Bryan Bantry, APM Models, and Elite Models. In these roles, she managed and supported the careers of models, photographers, stylists, and other creative professionals while building relationships throughout the fashion and entertainment industries.
As the founder of Kim Alley Models, LLC, Kim has continued to scout, develop, mentor, and place talent with many of the world’s leading agencies, including Ford Models, IMG Models, Wilhelmina, Elite, New York Models, Major Models, and others throughout the United States and internationally. Her work goes far beyond discovering new faces. She helps models and their families understand how the industry truly operates, recognize potential warning signs, make informed decisions, and protect themselves while pursuing their careers.
Kim is also the creator and former host of the podcast Model Secrets, where she explored the realities of the modeling industry through honest conversations, professional insight, and personal stories. Building on that foundation, she created Model Voices: Every Voice Matters, a podcast and growing movement dedicated to giving people throughout the modeling industry a trusted place to speak openly and share their experiences.
Through conversations with models, agents, scouts, photographers, casting directors, parents, attorneys, advocates, and other industry insiders, Model Voices brings forward stories that have too often gone unheard. The podcast examines both the opportunities and the challenges within modeling while encouraging greater honesty, transparency, education, protection, and meaningful change.
Drawing from her own experiences and the stories shared with her throughout her career, Kim has become a passionate advocate for a safer, healthier, and more ethical modeling industry. She believes that no opportunity or level of success should ever come at the expense of a person’s safety, dignity, or well-being.
Today, Kim’s mission extends far beyond scouting and talent development. Through advocacy, mentorship, public speaking, education, and podcasting, she is helping lead important conversations about the past, present, and future of the modeling industry.
Whether she is discovering new talent, mentoring a young model, interviewing an industry leader, supporting someone who is ready to share their story, or speaking out about difficult issues, Kim remains committed to one goal: helping create a modeling industry that values both opportunity and humanity—because every voice matters.
